Tiivistelmä: | In this paper, a maintained hypothesis is that technology crosses borders along with the imported inputs within which it is embedded. Considering international trade as the primary vehicle for transborder technology flows, it can be inferred that the higher is the trade share for a region, the higher are the technology flows. Many LDCs have pursued liberal trade and technology policies and have relied on technologies originating in the advanced, industrialised nations of the world for their growth. However, to be of use to the LDCs, this technology must be captured by them. This paper highlights the fact that a better-educated workforce is beneficial for effective assimilation of foreign improvement of technology. |
