| Tiivistelmä: | Macroeconomic aspects of EU-accession are investigated from the perspective of the accession countries. The study looks at the situation of these countries on the eve of accession with respect to a number of macroeconomic variables and compares it with the EU-15. The consequences for macroeconomic policies are analysed. Against the background of a number of countries planning to join the euro area as soon as possible, the current status of the accession countries with respect to the Maastricht-criteria is taken. |
