Tiivistelmä:This article discusses Nonaka's (1994) theory of organizational knowledge creation, which has four phases: socialization, externalization, combination and internalization. The objective of this study is to extend Nonaka's theory by comparing the relative amount of intra-organizational knowledge transfer occuring during periods of product redesing with the amount of knowledge transfer occuring during steady-state periods. The questionnaire data indicated that the knowledge transfer is higher during periods of product design, whereas the interview data suggested vice versa. The data also showed that a fifth phase, tacit error correction, could be added into Nonaka's learning cycle.
