| Tiivistelmä: | Cognitive evaluation theory, which explains the effects of extrinsic motivators on intrinsic motivation, is quite difficult to apply to work settings due to its simple division between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Self-determination theory was developed by differentiating extrinsic motivation into types that differ in their degree of autonomy. This paper discusses self-determination theory as a theory of work motivation and displays its significance to theories of organizational behaviour. |
