Tiivistelmä: | The article examines the meaning of organizational commitment in the context of business ethics. It is argued that in order to be meaningful, the concept of commitment should consist of stronger emotions and attitudes, and an ethical requirement of 'freedom'. The paper draws upon in-depth interviews with 'committed workers' to claim that much of what goes for organizational commitment is flawed, commitment is directed towards something far more immediate and tangible than an organization. Research should try to explore work roles, colleagues and relationships as the basis for commitment. |
