Tiivistelmä: | Standard economic theory identifies a trade-off btw. up-or-stay and up-or-out promotion rules. This paper reports an experiment studying this trade-off. Under up-or-out, parties behave almost exactly as theory predicts (here as: t-p). However, under up-or-stay and stay-or-stay, results differ markedly from t-p. In that case workers invest rather frequently, although the t-p. is that they would not. This is due to various reciprocity mechanisms. |
