Tiivistelmä:Recently middle management has been under a lot of criticism and theoretical debate. The results from an investigation of consequences of organisational changes for the tasks and behaviours of middle management suggest that middle managers experienced a major shift in tasks. Moreover, organisational changes have lead to a focus on 'soft' leadership behaviour, such as coaching. However, there is little evidence of the effectiveness of coaching by middle management.
