| Tiivistelmä: | Exporting relationships btw. foreign importers and manufacturers bring about unique coordination problems which is due to transactions being recurrent and both firms making non-trivial relationship (hereafter as: r-ship/r-ships) specific investments etc. This study explores the role of contracts as a governance mechanism in these r-ships that are neither market-based discrete transactions, nor can be governed through ownership-based hierarchies. Developed and empirically tested is a model incorporating both the antecedents and performance implications of the nature of contract governing exporter-importer r-ships. |
