| Tiivistelmä: | A framework suitable for mathematically formalizing interdependence, analyzability and invariance is proposed and the issue of the existence of law outside the physical sciences is examined. The formalization of the notion of a natural law involves the idea of system similarity and is closely connected with the concept of a bifurcation of one system description - or model - from another. It is argued that many of the results from theory of singularities of smooth mappings play an important role in providing the necessary mathematical underpinning to make the ideas presented operational. |
