Tiivistelmä: | Badly designed jobs are actually the cause of far more performance problems than managers realize. In a study, using a properly constructed questionnaire, more than 12o jobs were analyzed. The researchers found that there are four different approaches to job design: the mechanistic, the motivational, the biological and the perceptual. Each approach is actually geared toward a different set of outcomes / e.g. training needs, job satisfaction, performance, health complaints etc./, has its own cost and benefits, and no single one is the best. Trade-offs will be required in most practical situation. Examples are given and some practical implications are explained. |
