| Tiivistelmä: | The use of communications and information technology poses new challenges to corporate management. The potential contribution of IT to the achievement of strategic business objectives will determine whether the setting-up of a new area of organization, information and communication systems, under a corporate information system officer, can be justified. The responsibility of the CIO is primarily in the fields of budget and resource management, strategic information planning and the management of organizational change. According to the practice in large U.S. enterprises, inclusion of the CIO in top management team helps the successful establishment of strategic information systems. |
