Tiivistelmä:Distributive systems are discussed. Literature about the topic is reviewed. Three contractually integrated channel systems in the hardware industry are examined: wholesale voluntary chains, dealer cooperatives, and independents. A cost perspective is proposed. The background and the methodology of the research programme are outlined. A conceptual framework is elaborated. Hypotheses supported by literature are presented and tested. Bureaucratization and business strategy measure are used. Differences in decision making structures and competitive strategic postures across relational forms are examined. Managerial and strategic implications are summarized.
