| Tiivistelmä: | Some principles emerging in British manufacturing industry are reviewed. Technical control needs replacing by managerial control, with the foreman playing a pivotal role. Control of the worker's time needs replacing by a focus on overall real output. An organizational culture is needed which is geared to change. What these changes might entail is illustrated by suggesting how different people in an organization might view Reg, a mythical but representative worker, in a case study based on fact. |
