| Tiivistelmä: | After several years' failure, a few brave banks prepare to try integration again. To gain an edge over their competitors, they are attempting to consolidate free-standing applications into large-scale integrated systems. After two years of development works, The Exchange National Bank of Chicago is about to implement the first phase of an integrated system project. Bank One Corp. in Columbus, Ohio, is also about to implement a similar system. Despite the risks, banks are adopting these systems because they are expected to streamline operations and give banks the flexibility to quick changes. Developing a large-scale integrated banking system is not a technical problem, the more serious problem for banks is a business one. |
