| Tiivistelmä: | The interest in expert systems technology in the operations research, management science and business communities has grown exponentially. The uses by science professionals for the solution of complex or unique problems can be broadly divided into two areas: expert systems as a stand-alone or independent tool, and expert systems which are integrated with other computer-based operations research and/or decision support system methodologies. There is now a clearly recognizable evolution of operations research into decision support systems, which is in turn rapidly incorporating current expert systems technologies. The current state of utilization of expert systems by operations researchers is examined. |
