| Tiivistelmä: | In mid-1986, the leadership of AT and T's Shreveport (Louisiana) Works challenged itself to make the plant competitive on a world scale. A just-in-time manufacturing system, anchored by a rigorous quality reappraisal, was conceived. An integrated quality system was installed with great success. At a plastics maker quality efforts including the use of quality teams, computerized diagrams etc. achieved similar results. Quality problems of a leading auto components manufacturer are described too. A number of lessons are deduced from these cases to make quality management more effective. |
