| Tiivistelmä: | The rapid rate of technical progress within the field of workstations and PC-applications has brought about new, cost-saving ways of application of CAD-systems. The complex nature of CAD-applications is highlighted. Some requirements for data management and product design in relation with CAD-systems are described. The life-cycles of a CAD-project are overviewed. The introduction of CAD in middle-sized companies is examined. Some guidelines for the control of the process of introduction are provided. The role of CAD within a computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) system is discussed. Guidelines for the assessment of a CAD-system are offered. |
