Tiivistelmä:With the fifth largest population in Europe estimated at 39.2 million in 1989, Spain represents one of the most important half-tapped consumer markets in the 1990s. Data on the population and demographic indicators in the 1980s are presented. Household characteristics are discussed, and a table showing labour force developments by sector from 1985 to 1989 is given. The use of leisure time, personal finance situation is Spain including incomes, savings and credit are overviewed briefly. Data on consumer spending by category from 1985 to 1988 are presented. Finally, social trends in Spain on health care, smoking habits and education are summarized.
