Tiivistelmä: | Doing business in the Soviet Union means playing on a field that is part Alice in Wonderland, part War and Peace. The population has high literacy, scientific and technical skills and an even higher savings rate due to a lack of products to buy. Foreigners must think also of a currency that is not convertible on the world market, a government mired in a numbing bureaucracy, with no infrastructure, no effective distribution system and a high failure rate for new business start-ups. A lot of case histories of joint business ventures and foreign investments are reported. The vital need of a careful feasibility study before entering in a business in the Soviet Union is emphasized. In addition, acquiring a new way of thinking is needed. |
