| Tiivistelmä: | IS managers concerned about the cost and reliability of a telecommunication network hope to have synchronous optical network /Sonet/ specifications developed by Exchange Carriers Standards Association's /ECSA/ T1 Committee. With flexible configuration, Sonet standard will let users tailor transmissions to the bandwidth they need and develop innovative services such as video conferencing. Sonet surpasses digital copper conductor lines because optical bandwidth can be more than 1500 times wider than that of T1 lines. The establishment of Sonet standards by ECSA committee is presented. |
