Tiivistelmä:The UK market for car-radios, radio-cassette players /"combis"/, cassette players and speakers is overviewed. A substantial and growing proportion of the in-car entertainment (ICE) market is accounted for by factory line-fit products /units already fitted to a new car/. The retail figures are nominal values based on sales values in the accessory sectors. The UK ICE market was worth GBP 600 million in 1990 at current retail prices. Cassette radio combis constitute the largest volume and value sector. Premiums associated with superior features are being eroded. Anti-theft features should prove very important to the mass market. A rapid growth in demand for CD-based car audio products is expected.
