Tiivistelmä:Milioni and Pliska developed a model for determining the optimal inspection schedule for a system which deteriorates according to a semi-Markov that progresses through three stages: good, defective and failed. The model has a deficiency: false negatives are not allowed, that is inspection results are always positive whenever the system is in the defective state. Meanwhile, a descriptive inspection model was developed, where the deterioration process was assumed to be an increasing semi-Markov process where the number of states is any positive integer. These two models are combined. The resulting new version is called a delayed Markov process.
