Tiivistelmä: | This study categorizes the different criteria (hereafter as: crt.) and weightings used to determine promotions in the universities (here as: unvts.) of the U.K. The crt. are analyzed to define the extent to which they recognize research and teaching equally as evidence for promotion. It is shown that unvts. have largely adopted formal parity in the crt. for senior and principal lecturers. However, for the higher and more prestigious ranks, most unvts. exclusively require research excellence, not allowing similar applications based on teaching activities. |
