Tiivistelmä:The laws and norms regarding the unauthorized duplication of software, i. e. software piracy, are not agreed upon. This paper approaches the subject by analyzing newspaper articles from 1989-2004 in order to examine the social environment surrounding software piracy. The neutralization framework by Sykes and Matza, and Zamoon and Curley is used in the analysis. The findings of the review reveal that neutralization approaches were more balanced in arguments approving software piracy, which also showed less moral intensity towards the behavior. Disapproving rationales in turn, showed higher moral intensity and emphasized the injuries resulting from software piracy.
