| Tiivistelmä: | This introductory deals with the subject of this Special issue of "Dissenting futures". Future studies is largely about thinking the unthinkable. Insofar as theory and research in futures studies is about unthinkable thoughts, about new departures and new destinations, it is about dissent. The existing ideas of what is and what ought to be are the conceptions and inspirations of the dominant system which is largely the product of the civilization of the West. Dissent becomes a prerequisite for survival. |
