| Tiivistelmä: | This article investigates the factors affecting firm survival. Hypotheses that are mainly drawn from the Resource-Based Theory of the Firm, according to which the ability to adapt to the changing competitive environment is positively related to the firm's ability to develop distinct capabilities, are tested by using a number of models. The main findings give support to the hypotheses that firm's capability to develop distinct assets through advertising and making R&D is related to better survival chances. The study also indicates that failure risk changes with the age of the firm. |
