Tiivistelmä:The antecedents and consequences of strategic differentiation are often described through organization-level characteristics in business strategy research. This paper, however, focuses on the day-to-day processes used by managers to create strategic differentiation solutions. A longitudinal field study is conducted to examine real-life creative strategic decisions, including 24 companies from different manufacturing industries. The results suggest that the manager's perceptions of uncertainty and competition influence the development process of creative strategic choices. In addition, it is found that creativity has a potential to increase the effectiveness of strategic choices by 5-10 %.
