Tiivistelmä: | There are different opinions about the impact that new information and communication technologies are making on office culture. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) should transform the way business is done and bring fundamental changes to workplace culture. It is only recently that academics have turned their attention to the complex values surrounding the effect of ICT on behavior and culture in the office. The technophiles see the new tech as a good thing for management: ICT will improve the speed and quality of organisational decision-making, increase transparency, facilitate the free flow of information and offer accurate picture of what is going on in the office. The techno-skeptics see just formalisation of culture, a reduction in face-to-face communication and a tendency to centralise power and control. |
