| Tiivistelmä: | The business of forecasting investment risk in volatile regions is gaining in importance, particularly in Africa. One of the leading international consultancies is the London based Control Risk Group. The author of this paper talks with CRG's senior Africa analyst, Charlie Weeks, about perceiving risks in various African countries. The analyst answers the questions about RiskMap 2001, Tanzania, Zambia, South Africa political stability, Mozambique, UNCTAD's figures and FDI flows for Africa. CRG see the four main risks for investors in the sub-Saharan region being: contract frustrations and problems arising out of government corruption; conflict and instability prompted by regional and ethical tensions; poorly managed economic programs; risks to assets and personnel posed by crime. |
