| Tiivistelmä: | The fraction of the German social democrats proposed recently in a bill presented in the Bundestag /the German parliament/ that the power of banks should be curtailed. The main goal of the proposal is to increase the transparency and the competition in the financial sector. The three authors examine the issue from three different points of view. The characteristics of the German financial markets, the source and the nature of the power of banks are analyzed and ways in which it can be limited are considered. |
