Tiivistelmä: | This report analyses the market for pet food and pet care products in Germany. For the purposes of the study, the market has been divided into the following three sectors: cat food, other pet food and pet care products. The authors state that over the review period growth in the market for pet food and accessories gradually slowed down, and value sales in 2000 were only a marginal 0.4% up on the previous year. However, it remains a very lucrative market, with a value in 2000 of DM 5,418 million, but all signs suggest that the slow-down will continue over the forecast period. There are a number of reasons for this. The main factor is the stability of the pet population. The dog population remained constant over the review period and there is no indication that this will change. |
