Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines solutions to the complexity of global cruise ship supply chain (hereafter as: c-s-s-c.) management through a field study of a large Florida-based global cruise company's practices in re-supplying ships all-over the world. The study focuses on the key characteristics of a c-s-s-c. and the best practices in managing that global service supply chain (as: s-c/s). Used is a methodology of a 24-month field study equally divided btw. time on cruise ships and time at the head office, and complemented by 19 formal semi-structured interviews of directors and managers within the s-c/s. management department of the cruise company. The study's findings have implications for the management of complex global service s-c/s. the settings as e.g. s-c/s. in humanitarian/emergency and in resort/tourism. |
