Tiivistelmä:The evolution path towards the global corporation comprises six stages, involving varying degrees of risk: from export activities, via overseas assembly , overseas production, and development-design-manufacturing, a firm develops into a global player with a full-fledged overseas business system. The typical characteristics of the latter are illustrated in the article by examples of several USA and Japanese industrial companies. German firms have also responded to changing world market conditions by stepping up their overseas investment. Representative samples show, however, that these moves do not yet amount to full-blown globalization.
