| Tiivistelmä: | Findings from a 1991 field study conducted at a major American corporation concerning the business benefits of group support technology are presented in the article. The measurable benefits of the technology its influence on improving group work quality and the return of the investment are discussed. The paper reviews the results of a study involving synchronous group support technology, distinguished by specific business case variables that are important to understanding the effects of collaborative solutions on group performance. The study shows how well group support technology fares as a business case or proposition in a complex organization. It demonstrates the value of business metrics in the design of group decision support systems and in the development and deployment of programs using these technologies. |
