Tiivistelmä:In a global alliance, people with different cultures, career goals, compensation systems, and other human resources baggage often have to hit the ground working together. Unless the ground has been smoothed, this "people factor" can halt the alliance's progress, sometimes permanently. Based on a three years study of organizational functioning of four international alliances in the USA, a checklist of lessons is presented which includes: 1. blending of cultures and management styles; 2. job design; 3. recruitment and staffing policies; 4. orientation and training of employees; 5. performance appraisal; 6. compensation and benefits; 7. career issues; 8. labour-management relations.
