| Tiivistelmä: | This paper investigates the determinants of attendances at English Football League matches during 1986-1987 season using an expanded version of a model originally used to analyse attendances for the 1981-1982 season (Peel/Thomas 1988). The basic concept involved is a measure of match outcome uncertainty based on the probability of home team success as measured by posted fixed betting odds. Core support is treated by introducing lagged home attendances. A measure of seasonal outcome uncertainty is incorporated. |
