| Tiivistelmä: | On Thursday, August 14th, 2003 an electrical blackout paralysed seven northeastern states in the USA for four days. This paper analyses the consequences of the blackout, e.g. economic losses in the field of industry and travel and tourism and it also discusses the government responses to this crisis. The blackout had an impact on about 50 million people, contributed to about five deaths and the estimated cost of the blackout is around 6 billion dollars. |
