Tiivistelmä:How do managers develop an understanding of the world around them? What interpretive processes influence managerial activities such as strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation? To answer these questions, organizational researchers have begun to develop models of how managers think and make sense as they perform their jobs. In many models, special emphasis is placed on sensemaking under conditions of equivocality. Equivocality is defined as existing when two or more prospective meanings appear clearly applicable and equally valid.
