Tiivistelmä:The purpose of this study is to extend earlier research on educational inequality and health. It is examined, whether own educational level and spouse's educational level are independently associated with self-assessed health. It is also analyzed to what extent educational heterogamy is related to health differences between and with countries. The results suggest that both own and spouse's level of education positively affects self-assessed health in Europe. The degree of educational heterogamy does not, however, influence the average level of self-assessed health in a country. The positive relationships between own and spouse's education and self-assessed health seem to be weaker as the degree of educational heterogamy at the national level is higher.
