Tiivistelmä:Aspects of phronetic social science and phronetic organization research have been much debated recently. Nevertheless, the visual aspects of communicating phronesis have got little attention. Still organizations try to communicate an image of respectability and success to the public. There, corporate reporting is used, and particularly CSR reporting embraces fairness and sustainability among others. This paper explores how visual portrayals of wise and discerning values (phronesis) are used to reinforce the verbal component of reporting. The two propositions underlying this study are that visual images form a major deal of the structures of contemporary corporate reporting and that phronetic action in organizations is subjected to textual documentation, and to visual expressions. The linking of the Aristotelian concept of phronesis to contemporary concerns about responsibility, and the visual representation in CSR reporting is also discussed. Finally, the symbolic and contextual signification of images in corporate accounts of wisdom and responsibility is addressed.
