Tiivistelmä:Research within the field of sustainable development has documented several network initiatives taken by corporations in order to mitigate financial, social, and environmental pressures. Until now, the research has focused to the concerns raised by a number of external stakeholders. Therefore, research attention has been paid to the reactive corporate response instead of proactive communication of the sustainability message to develop and drive corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. Only recently, some articles have emerged on the issue. This paper aims to contribute to the field by proposing a theoretical analysis of the organizational and communicative foundations of CSR and sustainability networks. Resource dependence theory and social network theory are exploited to form the theoretical framework set up for understanding the way governments build relations with local networks, corporations among others. The framework is tested on a Danish example.
