Tiivistelmä:To support merchandising decisions the concept of a model is described in this paper, measuring direct product profitability (DPP). The case example of the development process is based on experiences with a clothing retailer in the UK. A clothing sector retailer considered it important to gain a better understanding of individual product group profitability in the current UK retailing climate of increasing rent costs through the late 1980s and early1990s (21, 36, 37), the general trend towards self-service (2, 30, 35) which has seen a reduction in the company's staff costs, and ect.
