| Tiivistelmä: | Japanese direct R & D investments in the United States have increased dramatically and the U.S. R & D facilities of Japanese companies have significantly expanded their operations during the last five years. This article examines the operations, investment motives, and factors influencing the location decisions to Japanese R & D facilities in the U.S. automotive and electronics industries using macro-level data and data collected through an interview study of thirty-five Japanese R & D facilities in the United States. |
