| Tiivistelmä: | Statistical analysis of economic data from 1991-1992 shows a sharp slowdown in Latvia's economy: a decline in industrial production, soaring prices and a marked drop in living standards. The Latvian economy was seriously affected by the economic upheaval that accompanied the rapid collapse of the Soviet Union. As a result, from 1990 to 1992, energy prices increased 7500%. Latvia's economic development will greatly depend on the rate of economic reforms and will be connected with support from powerful financial institutions. |
