| Tiivistelmä: | The author suggests that a number of operational problems have made the use of spreadsheets for consolidation unpopular, the preferred route being to use a relational database. However, he reports how a model was prepared for consolidation using Lotus 1-2-3 Release and why. Users can benefit from having the data in one place: storage is minimized, calculations are speeded up, reports can be easily assembled and updated, data can be globally updated to allow sensitivity analysis, controls can be introduced to ensure that all the relevant data is included in reports and that the data adds up. |
