| Tiivistelmä: | Debt-for-nature swaps stand out for combining economic and environmental concerns. Such swaps are examined in three Latin American countries in terms of sovereignty, socioeconomic impacts and policy implications. The basic premise of debt-for-nature swaps is that a limited amount of foreign debt can be cancelled in exchange for local currency that will improve the management of natural resources in the debtor countries. |
