| Tiivistelmä: | In traditional labor-market theory, labor is a commodity and unemployment is the idled state of an inert resource and the choice of the laborer. The reality of modern life is that episodes of voluntary and involuntary unemployment is wasteful and unproductive for the society and its victims. Until we reframe our conceptualization of what constitutes worthwhile human activity, the public and private policies and practices dealing with so-called unemployment will continue to be inadequate. |
