| Tiivistelmä: | The article talks about the possibilities of setting up profit centres in banks in Slovenia.Banks are forced to this by an uncertain and heterogenous environment, which requires a decentralised internal organisation of banks.This makes the creation of independent organisational units with precisely defined responsibilities for their business results possible.The formation of profit centres is thus turning into a solution to the problem of non-profitable banks because the overall profitability depends on the rentability of individual organisational units.There is no set formula for the formation of these.The specific characteristics of banks with regard to their environment and their own capabilities dictate banks an individual approach to organising profit centres.The process could benefit from the experience of some developed banks. Banks should some sort of basis for the transformation to enable the decentralisation by following the performance of individual organisational units, services, customers and the creation of profit. |
