The status of genre is open to question within the current scene of post-phenomenological and post-structuralist theory. It is in this spirit that the article offers a review of several recent publications which indicate the possibility of a return to tragedy and outlines a direction of inquiry which might yet be undertaken about the genre of tragedy as a vehicle of human experience. |
