| Tiivistelmä: | Small lot sizes and the ability to quickly reconfigure a line have become the norm in most high-tech industries. This means that any product within a family can be assembled in any order, and that only minimal effort is required to redesign and rebalance the line when a new order arrives. While this might not be feasible in all environments, the efficient utilizationof a mixed model assembly line requires the solution of two seperate problems: the division of work among operators, and the sequencing of models on the line. This paper provides a unified framework for dealing with the second problem. |
